Residents of Punjab have something to celebrate as the provincial government has rolled out free Wi-Fi in Rahim Yar Khan.
This new initiative, launched on Monday, is part of the government’s ongoing efforts to boost digital connectivity across the region.
Locals in Rahim Yar Khan can now access complimentary internet at several key spots, including Adda Khanpur, City Pull, School Bazaar, the railway station, Jail Chowk, and Hospital Chowk.
The service stretches from Dari Sangi to Chak No 72-PN, making it easier for students, residents, and visitors to get online and stay connected with the world.
This move is part of a broader digital push, with over 200 free Wi-Fi points already active in Lahore and a total of 270 hotspots now available across 11 districts in Punjab.
The Punjab Safe Cities Authority, which is overseeing the project, has also brought the service to cities like Kasur, Nankana Sahib, Sheikhupura, Sialkot, Gujrat, Jhelum, Attock, Sahiwal, Okara, and Murree.
According to the Safe Cities Authority, more than 13 million people have used the free Wi-Fi so far, consuming upwards of 265 terabytes of data. The service is designed to make daily life easier for citizens, though it’s not meant for emergency calls, video streaming, or entertainment purposes.
This digital upgrade comes under the direction of the Chief Minister, as Punjab continues its journey toward becoming a fully connected, tech-savvy province.
