Punjab Approves Huge Subsidy Package for Orange Line Train

Passengers using the Orange Line Metro Train will continue to enjoy affordable travel, as the Punjab government has decided to extend its financial subsidy for the service.

The Finance Department has released Rs. 7 billion to cover the subsidy and operational expenses of the Orange Line. Officials confirmed that the move aims to keep fares unchanged and ensure uninterrupted service for daily commuters.

The Orange Line, which serves thousands of passengers in Lahore every day, relies on government support to maintain low ticket prices. Without the subsidy, fares would likely rise, making it difficult for many to afford the service.

Meanwhile, the government has also released Rs. 1 billion to the Specialized Healthcare and Medical Education Department, supporting its ongoing health services across the province.

With this latest funding decision, the Punjab government has reaffirmed its commitment to accessible urban transport and public welfare, especially at a time when rising inflation continues to impact household budgets.
