Sufiyan, Nawaz Shine as Pakistani Players Climb ICC T20I Rankings

Pakistan’s recent T20I series win over the West Indies has not only boosted the team’s confidence ahead of tough assignments but has also sparked a significant shake-up in the ICC Men’s T20I Player Rankings, with the Green Shirts making the biggest noise.

Following a 2-1 series victory in the Caribbean, several Pakistani cricketers have seen dramatic jumps in their global standings, with Sufiyan Muqeem and Hasan Nawaz making the biggest gains after significantly contributing to their side.

Sufiyan Muqeem was Pakistan’s breakout star in the Caribbean. The left-arm wrist-spinner delivered three consecutive economical spells, showing impressive control and variation against the West Indies’ power-packed batting lineup. His performances helped catapult him 69 places up the ICC T20I Bowling Rankings to a career-best joint-34th position. For a bowler who was outside the top 100 just weeks ago, it’s a meteoric rise and one that has sparked hope for Pakistan’s T20 future.

Mohammad Nawaz has also jumped a staggering 51 places to sit 56th in the rankings.

Other bowlers, however, have work to do. While Haris Rauf has retained his 26th place in the ICC T20I rankings, Abbas Afridi, Shaheen Afridi, and Abrar Ahmed all saw a drop.

It wasn’t just the bowlers who impressed. The batting department also saw key names make strides up the ICC T20I Rankings. Hasan Nawaz, after a string of confident innings, jumped 24 places to 30th, establishing himself as a vital cog in Pakistan’s middle-order.

Saim Ayub, the stylish left-hander, climbed 25 spots to joint-37th, continuing his rise as one of the most promising young batters in the format. Sahibzada Farhan also made the most of his chances and rose 34 places to 63rd, staking his claim for a starting role in the upcoming Asia Cup and beyond.
