Pakistan has officially revealed its squad for this year’s ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup with a special emphasis on youth, in what could be a defining moment for the team.
Fatima Sana, at just 23 years of age, will continue to lead the team. This marks her first ODI World Cup assignment as captain and ushers in a new era for the women’s game in the country. The all-rounder had previously led Pakistan in the qualifiers, helping them reach the main stage in historic fashion.
The 15-member squad, announced by the Women’s National Selection Committee, reflects both continuity and bold change. Rising stars such as 20-year-old Eyman Fatima have been drafted in, while six players—Natalia Parvaiz, Rameen Shamim, Sadaf Shamas, Sadia Iqbal, Shawaal Zulfiqar, and Syeda Aroob Shah—are all set for their maiden appearance on the world’s biggest ODI stage.
Two changes were made from the squad that featured in the Qualifier: Eyman and Sadaf Shamas come in for Gull Feroza and Najiha Alvi. Both are part of the five-member reserve list alongside Tuba Hassan, Umm-e-Hani, and Waheeda Akhtar.

The tournament, to be jointly hosted by India and Sri Lanka from September 30 to November 2, will see Pakistan play all of its matches at Colombo’s R Premadasa International Cricket Stadium. If the team secures a place in the semi-final (October 29) or the final (November 2), those matches will also be held in Colombo.
Before heading to Sri Lanka, the squad will fine-tune its preparations in Lahore. The players will enter a 14-day training camp from August 29 before Pakistan hosts South Africa for a three-match ODI series at Gaddafi Stadium from September 16 to 22, providing the final test before the global tournament.
The group-stage schedule of the Women’s ODI World Cup has already generated excitement, with Pakistan set to face traditional rivals India on October 5. Other marquee clashes include Australia (October 8) and England (October 15), while Pakistan will also lock horns with Bangladesh (October 2), New Zealand (October 18), South Africa (October 21), and hosts Sri Lanka (October 24).
With momentum on their side, 2025 could be the year that Pakistan’s Women’s ODI team makes its mark on a global stage
