In light of persistent rainfall and the heightened risk of landslides, the Murree Traffic Police has issued a safety advisory for tourists planning to visit the region.
Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) Waseem Akhtar has advised citizens to refrain from unnecessary travel to Murree during the current weather conditions. He warned that continuous rains have increased the likelihood of landslides, posing serious safety risks on hilly roads.
Motorists have been instructed to drive slowly on slippery roads, particularly on steep and winding terrain. The advisory also calls for the use of fog lights and hazard indicators during low visibility caused by rain or fog.
Tourists have been urged to fully cooperate with traffic staff at designated diversion points in case of road closures. For emergencies or travel updates, citizens can contact the traffic control room at 051-9269200.
The spokesperson for the Traffic Police confirmed that CTO Waseem Akhtar and DSP Traffic Murree are personally overseeing the traffic arrangements. Their presence is aimed at ensuring a steady flow of vehicles and the safety of both residents and tourists in the area.
