The National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) has rolled out a new digital facility allowing citizens to register births and deaths through the Pak ID mobile app.
The new facility has initially been launched in the union councils of Jhelum, Chakwal, and Nankana Sahib in Punjab. These districts were selected as priority areas because routine administrative processes have been disrupted by recent floods.
With this service, residents no longer need to make repeated visits to union council offices to complete registrations. Instead, they can submit applications, upload required documents, and track the status of their cases directly through the mobile app.
According to NADRA officials, the authority is working with local administrations to expand this service nationwide. Preparations are already underway in other provinces, and once the necessary administrative measures are in place, the mobile app facility will be extended to more regions.
Officials added that this development is part of NADRA’s broader strategy to digitize citizen services and reduce paperwork, making access more convenient for communities in remote and disaster-hit areas.
The digital registration of births and deaths offers multiple advantages:
- Convenience: Citizens can complete registrations without visiting government offices.
- Accessibility: Families in flood-affected or rural areas will have easier access to official records.
- Efficiency: Faster processing and reduced delays compared to manual registration.
- Transparency: A centralized digital record system ensures greater accuracy in population data.
