The Punjab government has ended the facility of free vehicle emission testing, making it mandatory for owners to pay a fixed fee for the service.
The Environment Protection Department has issued a formal notification, setting separate charges for two-wheelers, three-wheelers, and four-wheel vehicles in different categories.
According to the notification, motorcycle owners will now pay Rs. 100, while the fee for rickshaws has been fixed at Rs. 300. For cars up to 1000cc, the fee will be Rs. 500, while vehicles up to 1500cc will pay Rs. 800.
Cars up to 2500cc will be charged Rs. 1,000, and those up to 4500cc will pay Rs. 1,500. For vehicles exceeding 4500cc capacity, the emission testing fee has been set at Rs. 2,000.
The department clarified that all payments must be deposited directly into the EPA account at the time of testing.
