Illegal Hotel Demolished in Rawalpindi

The Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA) launched an operation on Saturday, demolishing an illegally built property office and a hotel located near the entrance of Al-Mumtaz Colony, opposite Gate 2 of Gulraiz Housing Scheme.

According to officials, the action was taken under the Punjab Development of Cities Act, 1976, and the RDA Building and Zoning Regulations, 2021. The owner had constructed the buildings without obtaining the mandatory No-Objection Certificates (NOCs).

In a statement, RDA Director General Kinza Murtaza instructed the Land Use and Building Control Wing to take strict measures against encroachments and unlawful residential or commercial constructions.

She also ordered a detailed survey to assess fees related to the approval of illegal structures, commercialization cases, and building plans, to regularise all unauthorized properties within RDA’s jurisdiction.

Kinza Murtaza reaffirmed the authority’s commitment to maintaining proper urban planning and effective regulation. She urged citizens to cooperate with the RDA by removing illegal encroachments voluntarily to prevent future losses.
