The Punjab Home Department has decided to launch another grand operation against theatre halls across the province, including Lahore.
According to official sources, the decision was made after close monitoring of more than 20 actors and actresses who were reportedly involved in repeated violations.
A detailed report on theatre activities across Punjab has been sent to Provincial Minister Azma Bokhari, revealing that while several theatres are following the law under the supervision of Grade-17 officers, many others were found violating regulations.
Officials said that after junior staff, such as clerks and peons, were barred from monitoring duties, several theatre halls came under scrutiny for misconduct. Complaints were particularly received from Sheikhupura, Sahiwal, Okara, Rahim Yar Khan, Faisalabad, and Kasur.
Meanwhile, the Punjab Arts Council has begun working on a plan to introduce an e-monitoring system across the province to keep track of theatre performances and ensure compliance with cultural and legal standards.
