A jewelry store owner from Alabama, USA, Slater Jones, made headlines after embedding a two-carat diamond into his prosthetic eye — a creation that is now being dubbed the world’s most expensive and unique artificial eye.
According to reports, Jones lost his right eye due to a medical condition. Rather than settling for a standard prosthetic replacement, he decided to turn it into something extraordinary.
To bring his vision to life, Jones collaborated with Dr. John Lim, a renowned ocularist who has crafted nearly 10,000 artificial eyes throughout his career. After six weeks of meticulous work, Lim completed the custom prosthetic, featuring a real diamond carefully embedded into the iris design.
Jones said that while losing an eye was a painful experience, the diamond has brought “a new light” into his life. “I didn’t just want a replacement — I wanted something that reflected who I am,” he explained, adding that the diamond symbolizes both beauty and resilience.
