International airline, Iran Air, inaugurated its first-ever flight to Quetta on Wednesday night. The maiden flight, an Airbus A319 operating as Flight 826 on the Mashhad–Zahedan–Quetta route, touched down at Quetta International Airport, where it received a water cannon salute and a warm welcome from aviation officials.
A special ceremony was held in the State Lounge to celebrate the milestone. Balochistan Governor Jaffar Khan Mandokhel attended as the chief guest, accompanied by Iran’s Consul General, senior Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) officials, and members of the diplomatic and business communities.
The event opened with the national anthems of both Pakistan and Iran.
Speaking at the ceremony, Governor Mandokhel hailed the new route as “a landmark development” that would deepen bilateral relations and promote trade, tourism, and cultural exchange between the two nations.
“This direct service will foster closer ties between our people and create new opportunities for pilgrims, traders, and travelers,” he said.
According to officials, Iran Air will operate the Mashhad–Zahedan–Quetta service once a week, every Wednesday, arriving in Quetta at 9:30 p.m. The inaugural flight brought in 30 passengers and departed with 120.
A spokesperson for the Civil Aviation Authority described the launch as “a proud moment for Quetta International Airport,” noting that the new connection would make travel easier for pilgrims, businesspeople, and families from both countries.

Good news for Hazara community who were risking their lives travelling through coaches.
Blochistan is a big province. There should be 4 to 5 international airports for ease public travel.
It’s very nice induction. What will be the routes of Iranian Airlines. It will give nice impact on reduction of the overall prices of other Airlines as well
“This is a very nice development. Could you please share what routes Iranian Airlines will operate? Their entry into the market is likely to have a positive impact by helping reduce the overall prices of other airlines as well.”
