The Punjab government has decided to launch 25 major development projects soon, including the construction of underpasses, flyovers, road expansions, and the conversion of single-lane highways into dual carriageways.
According to official reports, these projects carry a total estimated cost of Rs. 88.65 billion, and work on them is expected to begin shortly.
The decision was made during a meeting chaired by Punjab Minister for Construction and Communications, Malik Sohaib Ahmad Bharath. During the session, the minister received a detailed briefing on the progress of all 25 upcoming projects from officials of the Communication and Works Department.
Minister Sohaib Ahmad Bharath announced that the Barqi Road in Lahore will be converted into a dual carriageway at a cost of Rs. 2.24 billion. He added that the development plan also includes the expansion of Kashmiri Bazaar, along with the construction of new underpasses and flyovers.
Additionally, the Sheikhupura–Farooqabad Road will be upgraded to a dual carriageway at an estimated cost of Rs. 6.94 billion. The minister directed authorities to expedite all necessary procedures to ensure timely completion.
