The Sindh Olympic Association has officially announced the competition schedule for the 35th National Games, confirming that more than 11,000 athletes and officials from across Pakistan will descend on Karachi next month.
The announcement marks an end of a saga which had seen the competition delayed several times.
According to the official breakdown, 4,663 registered athletes will compete across multiple disciplines from 6–13 December 2025, including 2,566 men and 2,097 women — marking one of the largest female contingents in National Games history. Provincial and departmental contingents will begin arriving on 4 December, the same day the first events get underway.
Away from the celebration, the Games have been overshadowed by a major organisational dispute, as cycling has been completely removed from the official schedule. This unprecedented decision has sparked outrage among players, officials, and sporting circles, with insiders blaming internal politics within the Pakistan Olympic Association (POA).
For the athletes, the exclusion is a heartbreaking blow; for observers, it serves as yet another reminder of the administrative fractures undermining Pakistan’s sporting progress.
