Karachi commuters are set to experience significant changes on key routes as the Karachi Traffic Police moves forward with a new reform plan aimed at reducing accidents and improving overall traffic discipline.
DIG Traffic Karachi Peer Muhammad Shah briefed business leaders at the Karachi Chamber of Commerce and Industry on Monday, explaining how the upcoming measures will reshape daily travel across the city.
He said the department will begin directing motorcycles into dedicated bike lanes on Shahrah-e-Faisal starting in December. Traffic authorities expect this step to reduce frequent two wheeler accidents and help maintain a smoother flow for cars, buses, and commercial traffic on one of Karachi’s busiest corridors.
The planned reforms are part of a broader effort to create safer and more predictable commutes for millions of residents. Office workers, families, delivery riders, and commercial drivers are likely to benefit from fewer collisions, shorter travel times, and clearer road management.
The DIG stressed that improved traffic conditions rely on public cooperation, adding that enforcement works only when road users take the rules seriously and respect the system.
