PCB Announces Unique Way to Fill Cricket Stadiums

Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Mohsin Naqvi has unveiled an interesting plan to bring crowds back to cricket venues during the off-season.

Speaking to the media, Mohsin Naqvi announced that stadiums across the country will host weekly musical concerts every weekend till the start of the 2026 Pakistan Super League (PSL 11) in April.

“From 15th December until the launch of PSL 11, we will have musical concerts in the stadiums every weekend,” Naqvi said, noting that the board wants to turn stadiums into vibrant entertainment spaces rather than limiting them to match days only.

According to the chairman, the initiative aims to make better use of stadium infrastructure and keep fans engaged even when cricket is not being played.

The PCB hopes the concerts will pull large audiences, generate revenue, and create a festival-like atmosphere leading into the PSL 11. Further details regarding performers, venues, and ticketing are expected to be shared in the coming weeks.

Earlier, the PCB chairman outlined plans to upgrade a couple of domestic stadiums that have never staged international or PSL matches. The PCB believes these upgrades will boost cricket in the region and improve the grounds’ chances of hosting top-tier events.

Alongside these renovations, he also announced that Islamabad will get its brand-new international-standard stadium by next year. Meanwhile, Karachi’s National Bank Stadium will undergo its long-planned renovation after PSL 11 in 2026, following delays in the project schedule.

  • Been done before by the PCB for concerts, melas, weddings, etc. All over the world stadiums are rented out for big events, the only problem is with cricket the quality of the pitch and maintenance of the outfield is very important. Previously the PCB rented out stadiums for weddings which ruined the outfields. I’m sure they’ll be more careful this time.
