The window to submit bids for the new Pakistan Super League (PSL) franchises has now closed, with several major players from different sectors believed to be in the running for ownership rights.
Solar energy company Inverex has publicly confirmed that it has formally submitted a bid for one of the new teams, becoming the first entity to officially go on record about its interest in PSL expansion.
Sources familiar with the process say that a telecom company, a real estate group, and one of the Pakistan Cricket Board’s existing sponsors are also part of the race, indicating strong corporate appetite for PSL ownership from multiple industries.
Among the most high-profile names linked to the new franchises is US-based Pakistani businessman Aamir Waien, the owner of payments technology firm i2c. Waien has reportedly emerged as a serious contender, with his personal wealth estimated at over $150 million, making him one of the most financially formidable bidders in the field.
The PCB is expected to complete its evaluation process and announce the new teams on 8 January, adding fresh franchises to the PSL roster ahead of future editions of the league.
PSL is already mostly for Punjab. If another team comes from Punjab it will be just Punjab super league.
