Ireland Announces T20 World Cup 2026 Squad

Cricket Ireland announced its 15-member squad for the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026. Veteran batter Paul Stirling will captain the team for the second straight tournament.

Twelve players from Ireland’s squad at the 2024 T20 World Cup in the USA and West Indies have been retained.

The squad includes emerging talent, with 22-year-old top-order batter and off-spinner Tim Tector earning selection. He is joined by 23-year-old left-handed middle-order batter Ben Calitz and left-arm spinner Matthew Humphreys, also 23.

Ireland men’s selector Andrew White said the team is eager to improve after their 2024 campaign. He said the last 18 months were used to test different tactics and combinations, and the selectors are confident with the balance of the squad.

Ireland have been placed in Group B alongside co-hosts Sri Lanka, as well as Australia, Oman and Zimbabwe.

Their campaign will begin against Sri Lanka on 8 February in Colombo, with all of Ireland’s group-stage matches scheduled to be played in Sri Lanka.
