Heavy Rain and Snowfall Disrupt Life in Northern Pakistan

Heavy rain and snowfall in the northern regions of Pakistan have brought a sharp drop in temperatures, disrupting daily life and travel in several areas.

Authorities confirmed that two people lost their lives in a weather-related incident caused by strong winds and heavy rain in Murree.

Hailstorms and Landslides in Murree

In Murree, hailstorms continued throughout the day while persistent rain triggered landslides in surrounding areas. Several key roads were blocked, including the Lawrence College Road to Pangan Dhak Jhika Gali link road.

Officials said the closures have affected residents and travellers, while restoration efforts are underway to reopen the blocked routes.

Rain and Snowfall in Gilgit-Baltistan

In Diamer and other areas of Gilgit-Baltistan, intermittent rainfall has continued since the previous day.

Snowfall has been reported at high-altitude locations, including Babusar Top, Batoga Top, and Nanga Parbat, intensifying the cold weather conditions in the region.

Karakoram Highway Partially Blocked

Heavy rainfall in Upper Kohistan and Lower Kohistan has caused mountain streams to swell, while landslides have partially blocked sections of the Karakoram Highway in Chilas.

Officials said the highway was also temporarily blocked at Zaid Khara in Upper Kohistan. Authorities have deployed heavy machinery to clear debris and restore traffic flow.

More Rain and Snow Forecast

Weather authorities have warned that further rain and snowfall are expected in Gilgit-Baltistan from April 1 to April 4, raising concerns about additional landslides and travel disruptions.

Residents and travellers have been advised to avoid unnecessary travel and follow safety precautions during the ongoing spell of severe weather.

Torrential Rain Disrupts Life in Kotli

Meanwhile, torrential rain and hailstorms have disrupted routine life in Kotli in Azad Jammu and Kashmir.

Power supply has been suspended in several areas, while overflowing streams have flooded low-lying neighborhoods. In some parts of the city, roads have been submerged, resembling ponds due to heavy rainfall.
