Following a record hike in petroleum prices, the government has unveiled a targeted relief package for motorcyclists, transporters, farmers, and public transport operators to soften the impact of rising fuel costs on key segments of the economy.
Speaking at a joint press conference, Muhammad Aurangzeb said the package focuses on vulnerable groups rather than on blanket subsidies, following consultations with the country’s leadership to ensure support reaches those most affected by the sharp price hike.
Under the plan, motorcyclists will receive a subsidy of Rs. 100 per litre on up to 20 litres of petrol per month, translating into relief of as much as Rs. 2,000 monthly. Inter-city public transport operators will also receive a Rs. 100-per-litre subsidy on diesel to help keep passenger fares stable.
To contain the impact on food supply chains, trucks transporting the bulk of essential food items will receive Rs. 70,000 per month in direct support. Large goods transport vehicles will be provided Rs. 80,000 per month, while inter-city public service vehicles will receive Rs. 100,000 per month to prevent fare increases.
Small farmers will be offered a one-time diesel subsidy of Rs. 1,500 per acre to support harvesting activities during the ongoing crop season.
The government has also decided to extend fuel support to Pakistan Railways to help manage passenger fares amid rising petroleum costs.
Separately, the federal government announced a steep increase in petroleum prices, raising petrol by Rs. 137.23 per litre to Rs. 458.40 and high-speed diesel by Rs. 184.49 per litre to Rs. 520.35.

I went to peteol pump and asked how to get this susidy. The filling staff was unaware and said the bikees will also get the peteol on same price i.e. Rs. 460 (rounded off). So this imposed government is just living on lies and making extra money from poor people of pakistan.
