Pakistan Moves Up in Latest ICC Test Rankings

Pakistan has moved up to sixth place in the latest International Cricket Council (ICC) Men’s Test rankings after the release of the annual update.

Australia remains at the top of the standings with 131 points, while reigning World Test Champions South Africa hold second place with 119 points.

India has advanced to third position with 104 points, overtaking England, which has slipped to fourth with 102 points.

England’s drop is due to the removal of matches played before April 30, 2023, from the rankings calculation. This includes key home series wins against New Zealand and South Africa, along with a 3-0 away series victory in Pakistan.

New Zealand occupies fifth place, while Pakistan has improved to sixth with 89 points, moving ahead of Sri Lanka, which now has 86 points.

Pakistan’s rise follows the exclusion of England’s 3-0 series win over them from the full-weightage period, as well as the reduced impact of Pakistan’s 2-0 series loss to Bangladesh in 2024.

West Indies, Bangladesh, and Ireland are ranked eighth, ninth, and tenth, respectively.
