Murree’s municipal administration has decided to impose a daily tax on street vendors and mobile hawkers as part of a broader revision of local fees and charges set to take effect from July 1, 2026.
Under the new rates, balloon sellers, corn vendors, peanut and chickpea sellers, ice ball hawkers, and other mobile traders will have to pay a daily tax of Rs. 200.
According to the notification, vendors who fail to pay could face confiscation of their goods, including balloons, gol gappas, corn, peanuts, chickpeas, and pushcarts, along with fines.
The revised fee structure has been issued by the Chief Officer of Municipal Corporation Murree, who has also increased charges for public toilets, shop signboards, advertisements, parking, and slaughterhouses. Objections to the new rates can be filed until June 16, while enforcement and recovery will begin from July 1.
Public toilet charges in Murree have been increased from Rs. 30 to Rs. 50.
Taxes on commercial signboards have also gone up sharply. The rate for small shop signboards has been revised from Rs100 per square foot annually to Rs. 100 per square foot monthly, while company boards will now be charged Rs300 per square foot annually.
Advertisement-related charges have also been raised. Six-foot banners will cost Rs. 500, while banners on electricity and telephone poles will be charged Rs300 per square foot. Vehicle advertisement tax has been fixed at Rs. 20,000 per day, while company product advertisements will be charged Rs. 5,000 daily.
Parking fees across Murree have also been increased, with car and jeep parking doubled to Rs. 200 during the day and Rs. 300 at night. Fees for buses, wagons, motorcycles, taxis, and other vehicles have also been revised upward.
The notification also increases slaughterhouse tax, with the rate on large animals raised from Rs. 200 to Rs. 300 and on small animals from Rs. 100 to Rs. 200.

It’s good step for revenue but there must be established some emergency rescue point in the area to cater alarming and accidents situations…hospitals and trauma cantres must be fully equipped and ready for 24/7 there…
Great move …. country will rise against this govt soon from every nook and corner.
