Iran has suspended indirect communications with the United States and is preparing to intensify the blockade across the Strait of Hormuz after both American and Israeli military resumed bombing parts of Lebanon.
According to state agencies operating in the region, Tehran has linked any future diplomatic engagement to an end to military operations in Lebanon and Gaza, as well as a withdrawal from contested areas in southern Lebanon.
Iran is considering further measures involving the Strait of Hormuz and the Bab el-Mandeb Strait, two of the world’s most strategically important shipping corridors.
The United States, and Israel again resumeed bombing parts of Lebanon despite ongoing efforts to preserve the fragile ceasefire in the region.
Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said any ceasefire agreement must apply across all aspects of the ongoing war.
The Strait of Hormuz has remained a focal point of geopolitical tensions. Any additional restrictions on shipping through the waterway could further impact global energy markets and trade flows.
The White House has not publicly responded to the latest report.
