The Prime Minister’s Youth Program (PMYP) and the Pakistan Mixed Martial Arts Federation (PMMAF) signed a Letter of Intent (LoI) to promote youth development through sports, with a special focus on Mixed Martial Arts (MMA).
The agreement aims to create new opportunities for young Pakistanis at both national and international levels.
Under the partnership, PMYP and PMMAF will work together to strengthen Pakistan’s sports ecosystem. The collaboration will focus on identifying and developing young talent, organizing national MMA championships, holding training camps and capacity-building programs, and supporting athletes for international competitions.
Speaking at the event, PMYP Chairman Rana Mashhood Ahmed Khan said sports play an important role in guiding the energy of young people toward discipline, leadership, fitness, and national service.
He said the initiative is in line with the government’s commitment to empowering youth through PMYP’s four-pronged framework of Education, Employment, Engagement, and Environment.
The two organizations also agreed to launch awareness campaigns promoting healthy lifestyles and anti-drug initiatives. They will also encourage greater youth participation in structured and internationally recognized sporting activities.
As part of the collaboration, PMMAF will support government-led initiatives, including Bunyan-ul-Marsoos. It will also carry out community engagement programs aimed at promoting patriotism, social responsibility, and national pride among young people.
PMMAF President Babar Qayyum Raja, who has been designated as the focal person for MMA-related matters under the agreement, said the partnership would help provide a professional pathway for aspiring athletes and support the growth of Mixed Martial Arts in Pakistan.
The agreement marks an important step toward expanding sports-based opportunities for young people and increasing Pakistan’s presence in the rapidly growing global MMA arena.
