Massive Fire Destroys Up to 35 Acres of Forest Area in National Park

A fire that lasted for several hours destroyed forest vegetation and shrubs across an estimated 30 to 35 acres in Bahawalpur’s Lal Sohanra National Park.

According to Rescue 1122, the fire broke out before Friday evening in the forest area near 36-RD inside the park. The blaze quickly spread to different locations, burning trees and bushes in areas that were difficult for firefighting vehicles to access.

Rescue officials said six fire engines were used during the operation, with water supplied continuously to contain the flames. The firefighting effort continued for more than six hours.

However, smoke was still rising from some trees and shrubs on Saturday morning, indicating that parts of the affected area were still smoldering.

The Lal Sohanra National Park administration has not issued any official statement regarding the incident or the extent of the damage. However, Rescue 1122 estimates suggest that around 30 to 35 acres of forest land were affected by the fire.
