France is going to collaborate with and assist Pakistan in the conservation of important archaeological sites. Both countries will also be increasing their cooperation in the fields of literature, arts, and culture.
Advisor to PM on National History and Literary Heritage (NH&LH), Irfan Siddiqui, had a meeting with the Ambassador of France to Pakistan Marc Baréty today for discussing the matter.

Siddiqui, while acknowledging the offer on behalf of the government, supported France’s contribution towards the preservation of archaeological sites in Pakistan including Mehrgarh.
While addressing the media, Siddiqui said that French experts will be training Pakistani archeologists on the new techniques and methods employed in the field of archaeology.
Preservation
Pakistan has a rich and diverse history of ancient civilizations, with numerous archeological sites in the country which need to be properly cared for.
While expressing his views after the meeting, Siddiqui added that his division will work for translating selected literature provided by the French writers in the Urdu language. This will educate Pakistan’s Archeological department staff and help bring the writing communities of the countries closer, said the Advisor to PM.
Interested in Iqbal’s Poetry
Interestingly, the French Ambassador, Marc Baréty, is a great admirer of Allama Iqbal’s poetry. He was also impressed by the Government of Pakistan’s efforts for the promotion of literature.
The meeting was attended by Counselor for Cooperation and Cultural Affairs at French Embassy, Mr. Andre de Bussy, Deputy Counselor, Olivier Huynh-van, Joint Secretary, NH&LH Division and Managing Director, National Book Foundation, and Dr. Inam ul Haq Javed.
