Google Assistant Beats Siri And Alexa In IQ Test

Google assistant has been leading the smart assistant market consecutively for years now, followed by Apple’s Siri and Amazon’s Alexa. We do have other smart assistants like Microsoft’s Cortana and Xiaomi’s XiaoAI but their operations are pretty limited.

All three of the leading smart assistants are getting better at responding to and understanding human questions, however, Google still holds the top spot.

Every year, Loup Ventures performs detailed tests of all the major smart assistants, this year was no different. The test included 800 queries broken into five categories namely:

1. Location information
2. Consumption information
3. Navigation information
4. Information
5. Command information

The voice assistants were tested based on, “Can the voice assistant understand this problem?” and “Can the voice assistant answer this question accurately?”. The results were pretty similar to last year’s results, however, the overall capabilities of all three assistants have increased. Google scored 100 percent on the ability to understand the question, Siri and Alexa followed at 99.8 and 99.9 percent understanding respectively.

The real competition is whether the assistant is able to comply with your instructions properly and is it able to give you the answer you expected. If we look at Google assistant it has improved considerably over last year and scored 92.9 percent this year, almost 7 percent higher as compared to last year’s results. Alexa scored 79.8 percent, achieving the highest improvement rate since its last year’s score was 61.4 percent.

Just like last year, Google assistant followed short in the command category but still far outperformed both Siri and Alexa.
