Nokia 6.1 has exceptional build quality, decent looks, solid performance, and a capable camera. All you can find at a very affordable price.
Nokia 6.1 ha got a metal back which is cool to the touch. At the top center is a single camera which uses the glass from Zeiss. Below that is a circular fingerprint scanner whose placement is very accurate and it becomes easy to access.
On the right side of the phone is the volume rocker and power button. Both are easy to access, and they offer a satisfying click when tapped. There is also a USB Type-C charging port on the bottom. You can also find a headphone jack at the top of the phone.
It also has an attractive two-tone design with anodized copper and iron accent lines around the display, buttons, camera lens, and fingerprint sensor. It looks elegant, and attractive, especially with the accents. The all-metal unibody makes the Nokia 6.1 very durable.
The front of the Nokia 6.1 has a 5.5-inch LCD display, with a resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels. The screen is just bright enough to conveniently use the smartphone outdoors, but colors do not really feel vibrant. However, you may experience the screen colors look muted when the accessibility features automatically turn on. Nokia 6.1 has got reduced bezels as compared to its previous models but it still packs chunky top and bottom bezels and a traditional 16:9 aspect ratio. The screen is protected by the Gorilla Glass 3.
Nokia 6.1 has got about 60% performance bump by featuring Snapdragon 630 chipset. Moving throughout the Android operating system is relatively fast, though not entirely fluid. Applications do not open as quickly as they do on the flagship phones, however, no major performance issue has been reported.
It also features a little more memory than the previous model i-e 3/4 GB which helps it in juggling multiple tasks. There is only 32/64 GB of inbuilt memory which can be expanded further up to 256 GB via micro SD card. Although the memory configuration is a bit low we cannot expect more from a budget phone.
Nokia 6.1 is also a part of the Android One programs, which means that smartphone is getting shipped with the stock Android. It is the purest version of Android with no bloatware, and no sluggish skin overlaid on top.
Nokia 6.1 has a significantly-improved camera. Like all budget phones, it falls in low-light scenarios, and the lack of any kind of optical image stabilization means you should always try to be as still as possible in lighting that is not broad daylight.
It does not feature a dual-camera setup. The Nokia 6.1 has a 16-megapixel lens with a f/2.0 aperture and Zeiss optics. In bright light, it lets you capture great photos with excellent color and detail. However, photos tend to start looking a little more washed out on less lighting. The front-facing camera performs as expected. It is a wide-angle, 8-megapixel lens with f/2.0 aperture. Selfies look good in bright lighting, but the quality degrades by leaps and bounds in low-light situations.
Nokia 6.1 has got a Pro mode, but the portrait mode is found missing. It also does not have beauty filters and other filters that have become more common on budget phones. There is a special feature that is offered on the Nokia 6.1 camera which is Dual-Sight. With Dual-Sight, you can simultaneously use the front and rear cameras to capture bothies.
There is a 3000mAh battery that powers the Nokia 6.1 which lets you use your Nokia 6.1 for one whole day on a single charge even while using the most battery consuming tasks like messaging, watching YouTube videos, browsing the web, taking photos, and using social media.
Update: Nokia 6.1 gets an Android P Beta update in China.
