Panasonic has announced a new member in its Toughbook line but surprisingly this time it is a smartphone. This Toughbook series of Panasonic has always been known for its rugged products and premium prices. Similarly, its new device which is known as Panasonic Toughbook FZ-T1 comes with some moderate specifications and will be available at a high price. The company is targeting the enterprise segment so we cannot compare its price with regular Android handsets. The most noticeable thing here is that the company is calling it ‘handheld’ instead of calling it a smartphone.
Toughbook FZ-T1 runs on Android v8.1 Oreo operating system. Aside from that the rest of the Toughbook FZ-T1 specifications are all very tame. This handheld comes with a 5-inch 720p IPS display, a Snapdragon 210 processor, 2GB of RAM, 16GB of onboard storage, an 8MP camera, and a 3050mAh battery. The battery is said to have a 12-hour life, and it’s hot-swappable. It has a barcode reader with two trigger buttons and optional grips. Other accessories include single/multiple chargers and cradles, holster belts, battery packs, passive styluses, and screen protectors.
In terms of appearance, it does not really match the company’s claims of this being stylish. But at least the device is IP68 water-resistant, MIL-STD 810G-certified, and can withstand a temperature range of -10C to 50C. Panasonic Toughbook FZ-T1 will make its debut soon and will be available in two models; WiFi only and WiFi+4G model.
