Samsung Galaxy A7 (2018) price in Pakistan is Rs 49,999. It is a mid-range smartphone and has the octa-core Exynos 7885 CPU with four gigs of RAM and 64 gigabytes of storage. The A7 has 2220 by 1080p Super AMOLED display, which is very bright, and it looks excellent. It has no notch, but the bezels are quite thick. The A7 has a beautiful design, front, and rear glass with a plastic frame or body which you don’t see that often. That is a new phone, and what’s unique about this phone is; this is the first Samsung device that has a triple camera setup.

Also, the phone has a premium design, great display for a perfect price, but it doesn’t mean it’s an ideal device. As usual to Samsung phones, the Galaxy A7 is excellent in the connectivity department as well. Call quality, signal reception is stable, GPS is very accurate, and there are plenty of sensors. Design and Display:

When it comes to the design, we could say this is a beautiful and well-crafted device but, at the same time, is a typical Samsung phone we have seen before. It comes in gold, blue, black, and pink colors. The phone has a glass on the front and rear, a glossy metal frame, beautiful metal buttons, and an excellent built quality. We know we have said this so many times for any Samsung phone. But what’s new, the Galaxy A7 is the first Samsung phone ever to have three cameras on the back.

On the front, you have a selfie shooter along with the LED flash. The fingerprint scanner is now present on the sides of the device inside the power key. We found it to be very accurate and fast and is comfortable to reach. However, there is a slight delay between unlocking the phone and the time the display lights up. There is also a face unlock feature that, again, is very accurate. Still, it’s not the fastest implementation of this unlocking method we have seen.

The 6inches Super AMOLED display is huge and is good overall. The Screen looks vibrant, sharp, and is bright enough for outdoor use. There is also a headphone jack that provides very good sound quality with Dolby Atmos enhancements. Other vital features included are dual SIM card slots and a dedicated micro SD card tray.

There is a highly customizable always-on display, which is nice. Still, we are persuaded that there is no LED notification light. Another frustration is that the Galaxy A7 uses the micro USB port instead of the USB type-C in 2018. As opposed to the Samsung’s flagships, the phone is not water and dust resistant, and there is no wireless charging.

Performance and Hardware:

The Galaxy A7 shifts with Samsung’s mid-range level Exynos 7885 2.2GHz Octacore processor that is capable of efficiently handling day-to-day tasks. Gaming performance is also outstanding, we were able to play games like Asphalt 9, Asphalt Xtreme, and Shadow pi3 on the highest graphics settings without any issues. PubG runs fine on medium graphics with just a few skipped frames but no lag.

Finally, we didn’t notice any overheating issues; the user interface reminds you this is a Samsung phone in a couple of ways. You get a heavily customized skin that is built on top of Android 8.0, which is, however, not the latest version of Android. Well, it’s usual for Samsung software updates to come a little bit later. Still, as usual, there are plenty of features and customization. You can change a lot of settings looks, and the phone will be quite fast and smooth while doing that. One of our favorites is the ability to pull down the notification shade with a side-mounted fingerprint scanner. The overall performance is excellent too. The applications open and close fast; there are no hiccups or lags.

Battery life (3300 mAh) is perfect, our record screen on time was about 10 hours when we tried to squeeze out every minute out of this phone’s battery. On average, you should expect to get about 8 hours of Screen on time, which is still an outstanding result. The charging time with a supplied charger is about one and a half hours.

Camera:

The Galaxy A7 has a triple rear camera 24.0 MP + 5.0 MP + 8.0 MP. The main shooter has plenty of megapixels and a bright aperture lens. The secondary camera collects depth information, and finally, the third shooter has 120 degrees wide-angle lens, and we love it.

The camera app is pretty fast and responsive; however, don’t expect to take burst photos as fast as on the Samsung’s flagship. You get a scene optimizer, live focus, and pro-mode, among other modes.

The highlight of this camera system is a wide-angle lens that gives you a whole new perspective of the scene. We love the wide-angle camera, and pictures also look beautiful on social media. They could have more details and sharpness, especially if we check them out on the computer screen — images taken in the primary camera look suitable for a mid-range phone. Colors look nice, dynamic range is excellent, and in general, pictures look beautiful. There were just a few shots where we wanted to see more details and that the colors were a little bit off.

The scene optimizer mode is supposed to apply the best image settings, but honestly, we found pictures taken in auto mode to look much better. Portrait shots look amazing while they are not ideal. The object is usually nicely separated from the background, even in some tricky situations. Low-light image quality is decent if you don’t take pictures of lights or well-lit objects. If you do that images will not look great, and this is the department where Samsung can improve the image quality with a future software update.

If you tend to take selfies at night, the front-facing LED is powerful, and you can also adjust the intensity of the light manually. Honestly, these images were one of the best selfies taken in pitch darkness we have seen.

The maximum resolution this phone can shoot videos at is 1080P. The quality of the footage is excellent, and it’s smooth. A few complaints are that the continuous autofocus is very slow, and there is quite a bit of noise in the footage. 1080p selfie video looks quite excellent, and the sound recording quality is good too. 720p slow-motion video looks good even in a poorly lit room.
