Vivo recently added a new entry-level smartphone under its Y-series, called the Vivo Y3S.

Vivo Y3s bags a Mediatek MT6765 Helio P35 chipset based on the 12nm framework. This chipset is paired with PowerVR GE 8320 GPU. Which is a moderately powerful combination.

Vivo’s Y3s comes with the older eMMC 5.1, which has a slow transfer speed. The smartphone packs 2 GB RAM with 32 GB of internal storage. That is expandable up to 1TB via a dedicated microSD card slot. However, we do not expect this phone to provide sustained performance with a lag-free gaming experience.

As per the software, the handset supports the Android 11 Go edition based on FunTouch OS 11 skin on top. The new Vivo Y3s supports a 6.51 inch IPS LCD display with a Full HD+ resolution. It also has a tiny waterdrop notch at the top centre for the selfie camera. The phone offers a resolution of 720 x 1600 pixels and doesn’t offer any dust or water resistance.

The device houses a massive 5000 mAh battery with 10W charging support. The most noteworthy feature of the Vivo Y3s is its 5W reverse charging system. This allows you to have a mobile power bank on the go. But, it doesn’t support fast charging. The smartphone also allows a face unlock system for authentication.

In terms of optics, the new Vivo Y3s features a single 13 MP main camera paired with a 5 MP selfie camera. The chipset used in the device allows the camera to provide depth of field effect in photos with a comparatively better low light performance than its predecessor models. However, we don’t expect the camera to capture rich details with exciting effects.

If we talk about the build quality, the phone supports a glass front with a plastic body. So, the device shouldn’t scratch or dent easily.

To sum it up, while this handset does come with some notable features, it’s not among Vivo’s best ones. We’ve seen better handsets in the market within a similar price range.
