ISPs and PTCL Customers Bear the Brunt of Strikes

PTCL customers who were already suffering from worst possible sale and after support facilities at PTCL are left in middle of nowhere during ongoing employees’ PTCL employees’ strike  against the management for not increasing their salaries in accordance with the government decision.

Country wide lock-down of PTCL exchanges has resulted into a complete shut-down of after sale and support services for voice, IPTV, broadband, Wireless Internet and Dial-up.

Not a single voice or data related complain has been addressed during the strike.

Effected customers include the DSL base of other ISPs due to no activity at PTCL exchanges. Hence,

  • No new DSL connection is possible
  • Repair work of DSL lines is impossible
  • Changing of ISP for a customer during strikes is impossible

EVO customers who pay their bills at OSS centers (as not all EVO customers can pay through prepaid cards and MCB bank) are waiting for restoration of services to pay their bill.

Those miserable customers who rely on PTCL for their voice needs are also left with no option but to wait for the strike to get over.

The PTCL system has been severely damaged in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa due to floods but the rehabilitation works has not started there due to various reasons, including workers’ strike.

In this tussle of employees and management, end customer is looking at PTA as regulatory authority to get their issues resolved, however, regulator has not played any role to mediate between PTCL employees and management for the sake of customers.

Broadband ISPs are worried on their end for loosing their business due to strikes, as they largely rely on PTCL for offering DSL services.

  • I wonder if it actually does fall in PTA’s jurisdiction. Still I really hope they resolve their issues soon because a lot of us have started to experience issues with our Data services and still can’t do a thing about it.

  • I like how you said:

“PTCL customers who were already suffering from worst possible sale and after support facilities at PTCL”.

And it looks like the strike will not be solved soon.

P.S. There is a typo here:

“No new DSL connection is impossible (possible)”

  • My home phone line have no dial tone since over week
my home dsl is keep disconnecting

my office dxx is down since 2 days
my office backup dsl is also keep disconnecting since 2 days.

and we have to pay all the bills in full amount.

  • Hope it gets over soon enough..
I am positive and want it to work because of the packages they are providing to common people..
All other companies are going for the kill interms of rates and data plans..
Despite its poor service and follow up..
I am still gonna pray the strike gets over and workers do get their raise..
    Peace

  • I hope it gets over soon too, these workers have been duped by the company.

I hope the workers get their legitimate pay rise that the government ordered.

Why do employers think they are higher than the peoples government?

  • i m also affected by this strike. i odered new broadband & new landline for past 23 days but there is no response coming from so cold ptcl…..
    its really furstrating……

  • why PTA take action against to ptcl compeny whenever this is a privye scetor customer suffring to much problem.

  • I also ordered a connection on 5th of this august. Still waiting for it.

    DSL Connection.

  • Not just this, bill paid in July are still added as areaers in August Bill, I haven’t paid the pay as I don’t know where to go for correction ?
But who will pay extra ? Ofcourse me…late fee, WHT, FED shit.

Our government is dead sleepy, they don’t have ability to cope with any issue at all. People who were supposed to run Grocery store are given a country to run.

  • I just hate this current situation. I mean, whatever spite the employees may have does not mean that you take it out on the customers. DSL services have been turned off at Baghbanpura Exchange since yesterday afternoon. I just now visited the exchange wanting to ask what was the reason behind my connection not working and they didn’t even allow me to enter the building!

  • I called PTCL helpline for DSL and they said this isn’t due to strike but the main server has got some problem and they are fixing it doing all setting (from last 10 days :@)

If you give this reply to a customer abroad he/she will simply say “F*** Off” & will switch other ISP but I dont have that option :(

  • Dear Everyone,

Lets accept the current situation and look for alternatives..
My DSL has been dead since the strike and the landline is not working.what i opted was to go for WI-TRIBE for a period of one month by paying 500 for installation fee and 750 for a 512kb/s speed for 6GB..dont wait as the strike will take long…WI-TRIBE is the best option at the moment for lahore, karachi and islamabad, rest have to wait..and for the PTCL phone line, you can always have any u fone number or mobilink number, whatever suits u..i hope this will make things work for some :)

  • Best Solution, Lets join together ISPies and Local customer call geo, express news and go to court why we pay the bill when were are not using services fones are dead since last month and still received the complete broadband bill justice of hell.

  • chootia banate hai 1218 wale ke port upgrade karrahe hai.1mb se 4mb per convert karwaya aub 256kb bhe mushkil se use karraha hoo..aik onu per 10mb ki BW hai to baqi customer kya kare ge.onu ki battery bhe allah ko pyari hogai hai.

  • My PTCL Landline is dead from 10th Aug. and have to use other means to remain connected. Really bad situation :(
