heARTwork Products Made by Disabled Children Now Available on Kaymu.pk

Kaymu.pk, an online shopping community has joined hands with heARTwork, a project by NOWPDP (Network of Organisations Working for People with Disabilities, Pakistan) to help students of the organization sell its products online.

HeARTwork is working to empower people with disabilities through promotion of their craftsmanship, thereby making them valued members of society.

Kaymu.pk has provided heARTwork with a platform to showcase the products made by their students to increase the outreach and sale of these items.

HeARTwork aims to make this project self-sustaining, to reduce and eventually eliminate reliance on grants and funds. HeARTwork products are available for purchase on Kaymu.pk HERE

At heARTwork students are trained by qualified trainers, to teach skills at the organization’s partner schools which are then implemented by making heARTwork merchandise. heARTwork merchandise is marketed through social media channels, partner retail outlets and their Ambassador Programme. These sales are made on a local and international level.

Over five million people in Pakistan have some sort of physical or other forms of disabilities. These individuals are generally unemployed; despite government’s mandate, Pakistan’s total workforce must include 2% people with disabilities. Initiatives similar to heARTwork can help provide an income to disabled individuals; and more ecommerce ventures should provide a platform to facilitate these organizations.
