Xiaomi Redmi 3S Comes With a Metal Unibody & Huge Battery

While the smartphone world went gaga over the OnePlus 3, Xiaomi went and did what it does best: announce a cheap and attractive smartphone with the new Redmi 3S.

The phone doesn’t feel like it lies in the sub-$150 price bracket, thanks in part to its metal unibody frame and a fingerprint scanner on the back. It is 8.5mm thin and weighs 144 grams.

The display is a large 5.5” panel with a mediocre 720p HD resolution. It starts to show its price advantage through its software though, running Android 5.1 Lollipop MIUI and showing the reason in full force why Lollipop just won’t fade away.

Under the hood, you get an octa-core Snapdragon 430 processor, which is slightly underclocked compared to the preceding Snapdragon 616. It’ll be accompanied by either 2 or 3 GB RAM, or either 16 or 32 GB of expandable storage. The storage could be expanded via the second SIM slot.

The camera on the back is a 13 MP f/2.0 shooter with phase-detection autofocus with LED Flash. There is a 5 MP camera with f/2.2 aperture on the front. Connectivity includes LTE, Bluetooth 4.1 and GPS with GLONASS.

The battery capacity is set at 4100 mAh. Prices are set at $106 for the model with 2 GB RAM and 16 GB storage, or $136 for the 3 GB RAM and 32 GB capacity model. It goes on sale starting from tomorrow.

Considering even AliExpress has stopped shipping Xiaomi phones to Pakistan, we can only hope that it makes its way to our country at some point because frankly, the bang for buck offered by this phone as well as assurance of quality because of the Xiaomi brand is hard to find in the market.

        • Lol. Man you think I’m joking? Just search on internet xiaomi is banned in Pakistan and PTA have said that. If you aren’t sure call or email PTA.

          • Jani yeh bachy bachy ko pata hai.. Isi liye kaha tum jaise expert se aisy jawab ki umeed na thi. Chalou ab is baray main ziada roshni KMQ hi daalay ga. Waisay bhi us ke bohat sary competitors market main utray huwey hain like FQM, KWM, MQM, MKQ. Etc.

  • Jo koi lana bhi chahta hai to PTA k paet me dard hojata hai. Koi poochnay wala nahee PTA ko? Kab aaega wo wqt jab XiaomI aaega. Kisi chinese website shyd Cheezmall nay sab model jama kraewe hai but Majal hai k PTA approval de. So bad for Pakistani. Abto Aliexpress nay b band kerdia dena

    • Bhai jaan its all Xiaomi’s Fault. Xiaomi is not adopting GSMA standards of smartphone manufacturing. GSMA standard is that manufacturere must have to use separate IMEI’s for every sim port in Mobile. All dual sim sets available in Pakistan have 2 IMEI numbers while Xiaomi is using single IMEI for dual sim phones which is clear voilation of International GSMA standards which makes Xioami phones untraceable upto some extent, this is why this brand is banned in Pak by Ministry of Internal Affairs on the request of security agencies, So there is nothing in the hands of PTA. This is the reason of banning Xioami which will never be told by ProPakistani here due to unknown reasons, istead they will keep posting these kind of meaningless articles and newses

      • Xiaomi was accused of stealing data from the user’s handsets and transmitting it to their servers back in China. Xiaomi released a MIUI update that made cloud messaging optional. Now, no private data is sent to Xiaomi servers if the cloud messaging service is turned off. so there is no reason to block ban Xiaomi except to encourage local brands like qmobile

        • There must have been a reason behind ban by Govt, otherwise all chinese brands are being granted type approvals like Alcatel etc so why not Xiaomi? Is Xiaomi left only Qmobile competitor in the world? Why don’t they bring Meizu, Oukitel, LeTV etc to compete Qmobile?

          • xiaomi sells in india with gsma standards according to indian law but not in pakistan why?

            • Ask to Xiaomi why not in Pakistan. I did import a Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 Prime from aliexpress a dual sim set with single IMEI and PTA didnt provide me type approval for custom clearance. Their is something wrong ib Xiaomi I beleive

              • It’s better just ask anyone coming from Far East to get a Xiaomi phone for you :)

              • There is only thing then I’m sure Samsung Pakistan is paying rishwat to PTA officials.

                • Again a sensless analysis. Xiaomi is banned by Ministry of interiors not by PTA. Are you saying Samsung is paying Rishwat to General Raheel so that Security agencies asked MoI to put ban on Xiaomi. I think so

                    • Security agencies are under Interior Ministry not Defence ministry. Correct you knowledge bro

                    • Ministry of interior is also run by a person whose wife and children are US nationals. That shows the interior picture of our govt. If they don’t even want to keep their wives and kids Pakistani then what else could someone expect from them?

                    • Imran khan, Nawaz Sharif or Asif Zardari, every one’s childrens are foreign national and settled.

                  • Jo Parliament me aik aurat ko tractor trolley kah raha tha… wohi ap Kay Pakistan ka defence minister hai.

                    • Uska en sab se kya talluq? Ministry of Interior Ch Nisar k pass hai. And even giving vote to PTI in last 2 elections I think its all PTI’s fault that he said tractor trolly to their women. Because it all started by our PTI persons who called other politicians with funny names in jalsas infront of thousands of People. When you call some one Deisel and Noora they will not spare your weak sides and call them Tractor Trolly irrespect of the place. A wrong action is wrong no matter where, in Jalsa or Parliment.

      • Tou yeh jo shab-o-roz mobile snatching hoti hai jin k proper imei number hotay hain. Tou woh kounsa trace kar k ghar bhej detey hain wapis? Aaj tak maine tou nahi suna kisi ka phone wapis mila ho imei se. Tou jab dosray developed countries walon ko problem nahi xiaomi se tou PTA ko kiun pait main maroor uth rahay hain?

        • You again read and comment it wrong. You can accuse Securiry Agencies not PTA, who can just obey Ministry’s orders.

    • Hahaha Cheesemall ki fake ID hai aur comment daikhou “Kisi chinese website shyd Cheezmall nay” :D

  • Aam khaye ga aam? (un writers k liye jo Pakistniyo ka dil jalanay k liye aesay handsets launch honay ki news detay hain)

  • Just ek simple sa sawal, for example lets assume ke Xiaomi aa bhi jata hia Pakistan main officially. Can any one comment what could be the expected price for a set with this range? I mean sare taxes wagera mila kar kitne kar pao parega yeh?

  • Why you posted about mobile phones which we can’t buy or which are not available in Pakistan. Only post about gadgets which we can buy in Pakistan, because we can read about all this stuff on other websites and blogs.

  • Please dont post such articles about banned brands in Pakistan like xiaomi. Many folks mistakenly purchase it and customs wala never gives them their phones due to ban on xiaomi by pta.

  • The article should be focused towards the localization rather than an imitation of international blogs.
