Oppo is Working on a Phone With a 90Hz Display

Oppo’s Vice President, while talking to fans on the Chinese microblogging site Weibo, confirmed that a new smartphone with a 90 Hz display is in the works. Based on some rumors and leaks, the smartphone might be launched at the end of September.

The company recently launched the Oppo Reno2 series in the Indian market and is launching the same series in China next week. With this recent revelation, it almost looks like Oppo is on a smartphone release marathon.

Even though we don’t have any other details regarding this mysterious smartphone, according to Shen Yiren, this new smartphone is not Reno2. If rumors are to be believed, Oppo is looking to get rid of 60 Hz displays on its flagship smartphones.

Do keep in mind that Oppo, Vivo and OnePlus all fall under the umbrella of BBK Electronics in China. OnePlus’ flagships are quite similar to their corresponding Oppo R-series phones in terms of design, so it’s likely that the new 90Hz phone from Oppo could be something similar to OnePlus 7.

Do take this with a grain of salt as this is just speculation. Nothing has been confirmed yet.

The recently launched Oppo Reno2 features some impressive specifications. If the upcoming mysterious smartphone is a flagship, we can expect a Snapdragon 855 Plus and similar high-end specifications.
