The fitness test for centrally contracted players is underway and it will continue the following two days.
Currently, only 10 players are taking the fitness test which will be test their speed, strength, and endurance.
As previously reported, Wahab Riaz, Shadab Khan, and Mohammad Amir have had their fitness tests rescheduled due to their involvement with the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL).
Usman Shinwari is another noted absentee, who is still recovering from typhoid. The fast bowler fell sick prior to Pakistan’s second Test match against Sri Lanka on home soil.
Apart from that, Test captain Azhar Ali, Asad Shafiq, and Mohammad Rizwan are all also recovering from viral infection. However, the board has not announced a tentative date for their tests.
Opening batsman Fakhar Zaman and fast bowler Hasan Ali are still awaiting clearance from medical officers. Fakhar has had back problems whereas Hasan Ali suffered fractured ribs towards the end of last year.
It is worth mentioning that the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) previously announced that any player who fails the fitness test this time around will be fined 15 percent of their salary.
