Punjab Higher Education Commission (PHEC) has issued a notification for the establishment of a university at Punjab House Murree.
The commission has okayed the establishment of Kohsar University in Punjab House Murree with admissions starting in September and October. The appointment of the first Vice-Chancellor is also expected this week.
According to the notification, Punjab House, Resource Center Murree and adjoining 86 Kanal of government land have been transferred to the university.
Apart from general subjects, tourism and hospitality management will also be taught in the university while the campus will be located at the confluence of Kahuta and Kalar Syedan.
The approval for the varsity was given by the Punjab Chief Minister Usman Buzdar in January this year. The implementation was delayed due to the coronavirus pandemic. However, with the notification, the varsity might be operational for the academic year in August.
