Official: Samsung Kills the Galaxy Note Smartphone Series

Rumors about Samsung killing its Galaxy Note lineup have been surfacing on the internet but they were unconfirmed, until now. According to a recent report by South Korean publication Aju News, Samsung Electronics has confirmed that it will discontinue the Galaxy Note series and will not launch the Galaxy Note 21 in 2021. This is probably why the next S-series smartphone will come with support for a stylus.

The report also states that the Korean smartphone maker has confirmed the launch of the Galaxy Z Fold 3 foldable in June 2021. Samsung has already started developing final samples of the Galaxy Z Fold 3 for mass production. Furthermore, the foldable smartphone is expected to arrive with Samsung’s latest technologies, such as the S Pen and under-display camera.

Reportedly, the next-gen Z Fold handset will have a dedicated compartment to house the S Pen. On the contrary, the upcoming S21 smartphones will not feature a dedicated compartment for the stylus but will support it.

Although Samsung succeeded in mounting the foldable phone with an in-screen digitizer to recognize the S Pen, it had a hard time developing tempered glass that prevents the screen from getting scratched while using the S Pen for the Galaxy Z Fold 2. It was only able to come up with a plausible solution now, hence, we might see it in the Galaxy Z Fold 3.
