PCB Takes a Strict Stance Over Participation of National Coaches in PSL 2021

Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has announced that the chief selector and the national coaches won’t be allowed to be a part of Pakistan Super League (PSL) season 6 in order to avoid conflict of interest. PCB’s code of ethics introduced last year focused mainly on the conflict of interest within the organization, which included every person employed by the PCB.

Last year, PCB received a lot of criticism for its decision to allow Misbah-ul-Haq to become the head coach of Islamabad United, while also holding the position of the national chief selector and national team head coach. Since then, Misbah has resigned as the chief selector and was replaced as Islamabad’s head coach for the upcoming season.

Balochistan head coach, Faisal Iqbal, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa head coach, Abdul Razzaq, Southern Punjab head coach, Abdul Rehman and Pakistan team manager, Mansoor Rana, were all employed by various PSL franchises in the previous season but they will no longer be able to continue their roles for PSL franchises.

Although national team bowling coach, Waqar Younis, and batting coach, Younis Khan, have previously been employed by PSL franchises, they were not expected to be a part of any franchise this season.

Newly appointed national chief selector, Mohammad Wasim, will also not be allowed to take part in PSL 6. Wasim also resigned from his position as Northern head coach as soon as he was appointed as the chief selector.

PCB’s decision has been confirmed by PCB Director Media, Samiul Hassan Burney.
