Here’s a List of Vaccination Centers Where You Can Get Moderna Vaccine

The mRNA-based COVID-19 vaccine developed by Moderna will be available for use at designated Mass Vaccination Centers (MVCs) all over Pakistan from today.

According to the National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC), Moderna’s vaccine will be available at 49 designated MVCs in all federating units including AJK and GB.

15 of the designated MVCs are in Punjab, 13 in KP, 6 in GB, 5 each in Islamabad and AJK, 3 in Balochistan, and 2 are in Sindh.

The NCOC has also issued the two categories of recipients of Moderna’s vaccine.

Under the criteria, Moderna’s vaccine will only be administered to individuals who have comorbid conditions or who are chronically immunosuppressed and individuals with a mandatory requirement of vaccination for travel.

The recipients must be aged 18 or above and not be vaccinated with any other currently approved COVID-19 vaccines.

Women who are pregnant and lactating, falling under the above-listed categories can receive the Moderna vaccine as well.

Moderna’s vaccine consists of two doses administered 2 weeks apart. Its efficacy is 50.8% after the initial dose and 92.1% after the booster dose. Two weeks after the second dose, Moderna’s vaccine becomes 94.1% effective at preventing COVID-19.

The vaccine needs to be stored in a freezer between -50C and -15C while transportation. During the transfer, the vaccine must be stored in the original carton and protected from light. Unpunctured vials of Moderna’s vaccine may be stored in the refrigerator between 2C and 8C for up to 30 days while punctured vials may be stored between 2C and 25C for up to 12 hours.
