Wasim Akram Reveals Major Flaws in Babar Azam’s Game

Legendary fast bowler, Wasim Akram, believes that Pakistan’s all-format captain, Babar Azam, still has a lot of room for improvement and has identified key areas where Babar should focus to enhance his game even further. Akram said that Babar needs to work on his dot-ball percentage and needs to rotate the strike more often, especially in the powerplay.

Akram said that Babar is an exceptional batsman, but he still needs to change his approach to the game to play according to the demands of modern T20 cricket.

Former national team captain talked about other Pakistani batsmen during the draft of the inaugural Kashmir Premier League.

He said, “They [Pakistan batsmen] need to look at the top batsmen in the world and learn from how they approach their game. We have Babar Azam, and Rizwan is in good nick as well, but I think Babar needs to improve his dot ball percentage in the first six overs. The players need to evolve, especially with so much T20 cricket being played.”

Akram also criticized the approach of the young batsmen in Pakistan’s domestic circuit and said that despite having one of the greatest T20 cricket leagues in the world, PSL, Pakistan has not been able to find one quality batsman for the past six seasons.

He said that the young batsmen lack intelligence and have zero match awareness as they try to hit a boundary of every ball. He added that a coach cannot teach about how to handle the situation. This ability comes from the intelligence within the players.
