Mohammad Rizwan Inches Closer to KL Rahul & Kohli in T20I Rankings

Pakistan’s wicket-keeper batsman, Mohammad Rizwan, solidified his position in the top ten ICC T20I batsmen rankings after a magnificent showing in the three-match T20I series against England. Rizwan has achieved a career-best as he is now ranked as the number seven T20I batsman in the world.

Rizwan finished as the leading run-scorer in the three-match series as he scored 176 runs at an average of 88.00 and a strike rate of 138.58. He scored two magnificent half-centuries in the series and rescued the Pakistani batting line-up in the third T20I as he scored an unbeaten 76.

The 29-year old has been in a rich vein of form over the past year and is currently the leading run-scorer in T20Is in the calendar year. Rizwan has scored 706 runs at an average of 100.85 and a strike rate of 140.91 in 13 innings he has played in 2021.

Apart from Rizwan, the hard-hitting middle-order English batsman, Liam Livingstone, also made a significant leap in the T20I rankings. Livingstone was the second-highest run-scorer in the T20I series between England and Pakistan. He scored 147 runs in the three-match series, including a century in the first T20I. He climbed up 144 spots and is now ranked 27th in the world.

Fast bowlers, Shaheen Afridi and Mohammad Hasnain, and leg-spinner, Shadab Khan, are the other three Pakistani players to have moved up the rankings. Afridi gained four places and is ranked as the number at 13th in the world, while Hasnain and Shadab made considerable progress and are ranked 41st and 36th, respectively.
