Sarfaraz Nawaz Pleads PM Imran Against Ramiz Raja’s Appointment as PCB Chairman

Former Pakistan pacer, Sarfaraz Nawaz, has urged Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) patron-in-chief and Prime Minister, Imran Khan, not to appoint Ramiz Raja as the new PCB chairman. Sarfaraz said that Ramiz will not be a good fit for the role because he has previously used derogatory remarks towards Pakistan cricket.

Sarfaraz said that Ramiz has previously stated that Pakistan cricket should accept India’s supremacy in world cricket and their domination in the International Cricket Council (ICC). He recommended that one of Zaheer Abbas or Majid Khan should be considered for the role of PCB chairman instead.

The former fast bowler addressed PM Imran via a letter, which was also sent to the news agency, Dawn.

“If the news about your approval for the appointment of Ramiz Raja as next chairman PCB is true, who blatantly and shamelessly advised Pakistan to become shameless by accepting the Indian supremacy and domination in the ICC [vehemently opposed by many renowned Pakistanis] and so much so that he [Ramiz] said that we should leave aside Pakistan in surrendering before the Indian hegemonist plan to rule the cricketing world through monopoly in the ICC,” he wrote in the letter.

Sarfaraz added that Ramiz’s appointment as PCB chairman would cause a lot of harm to Pakistan cricket and will hurt the national and patriotic sentiments of Pakistan cricket fans.

According to sources, former Pakistan opener, Ramiz Raja is the front-runner to be appointed as the new PCB chairman, replacing Ehsan Mani, whose three-year contract is set to end on 18 September. Sources revealed that Ramiz will meet PM Imran on Monday regarding the matter.
