Former Pakistan captain, Ramiz Raja is all but confirmed as the new chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board. According to the reports, Ramiz will replace former chairman, Ehsan Mani, who decided to step down from his position after the end of his contract on 4 September despite being offered a new short-term contract by PCB’s patron-in-chief, Prime Minister Imran Khan.
Mani thanked PM Imran for giving him the opportunity to take Pakistan Cricket in a positive direction and wished the incoming chairman the best of luck in taking Pakistan cricket to new heights.
According to reports, Ramiz will officially be announced as PCB chairman after the elections, scheduled to be held on 13 September. Ramiz has already accepted the offer to become the new chairman of the board.
Ramiz said that he is excited about the opportunity and believes that Pakistan cricket faces a lot of unique challenges at the moment. He said that he is confident that PCB will be able to overcome the challenges and take Pakistan cricket to new levels.
The 59-year old took to Twitter to express his confidence about facing new challenges. He wittingly tweeted that he has gone from bowling bouncers to facing bouncers within a few days.
Life has changed a bit since my last tweet. From bowling bouncers to facing bouncers but with your support and blessings I am confident to win the day inshallah.
