Mohammad Yousuf Wants PCB to Take Action Against Playing Shoaib Malik in PSL X

Mohammad Yousuf has openly criticized the decision to include 43-year-old Shoaib Malik in the Pakistan Super League (PSL X). Malik, a semi-retired cricketer, is currently playing for Quetta Gladiators in the ongoing season, but his participation has sparked debate due to his underwhelming performances.

Yousuf expressed his frustration, stating, “PCB needs to draw a line. If you ask me, I’ll play too.” His remarks highlight concerns over the relevance of aging players stealing positions in the starting XI from young talent, raising questions about the balance between experience and current form.

In the two matches played so far, Malik’s contributions have been minimal. He has bowled just two overs, conceding 35 runs, and has batted only once. In yesterday’s match against Lahore Qalandars, Shoaib Malik scored a labored 14 runs off 15 balls, failing to hit a single boundary, in Quetta Gladiators’ chase of a daunting target of 220 by Lahore Qalandars. His lack of impact has intensified scrutiny over his role in the team.

Yousuf’s comments reflect a broader discussion within Pakistan cricket about the participation of veteran players in franchise leagues. Critics argue that such selections may compromise the PSL’s competitive edge. As the tournament progresses, Malik’s continued presence in the league is likely to remain a contentious issue.

  • Mr. Yousaf said correctly. Mr. Khalid has occupied the place of a deserving and young player. Pakistan’s cricket who is already facing lack of quality players in its rank and Malik inclusion in PSL is not helping for Pakistan’s cricket. He must be shown door not only from PSL but all kinds of cricket. He already has a job as show boy in a local TV’s game show.
