Peshawar Zalmi Accused of Stealing PSL X Anthem From Famous Netflix Show

Peshawar Zalmi has been accused of borrowing heavily from the soundtrack of the hit Netflix series Arcane for their latest anthem for the Pakistan Super League (PSL X). As the team gears up to celebrate its 10-year anniversary, the release of a short film featuring two anthems—“Dust of War” and “The Journey Home”—has fans buzzing with excitement. However, the latter has raised eyebrows for its striking similarities to Arcane‘s “To Ashes and Blood.”

The controversy began when fans pointed out that “The Journey Home,” performed by Aima Baig alongside Bilaal Avaz and Wajid Layaq, bears an uncanny resemblance to the Arcane track. Fans quickly took to social media to voice their concerns, noting that the vocal stylings and thematic elements of the two songs are eerily similar.

And here’s the song Arcane:

While Peshawar Zalmi has certainly infused their anthem with unique lyrics and a distinct PSL flair, the question remains: did they borrow too liberally from Arcane? Fans of the animated series, many of whom may not be familiar with cricket, have expressed their disapproval, viewing this as a blatant act of plagiarism rather than homage.

Despite the controversy, the anthem is poised to resonate with Zalmi’s loyal fanbase. For many, the excitement surrounding PSL X and the team’s anniversary celebration outweighs the allegations of copying.
