Emerging fast bowler Ubaid Shah is ready to burst out of his brother’s (Naseem Shah) shadow after joining Multan Sultans, becoming the leading wicket-taker for the franchise in the ongoing Pakistan Super League (PSL 2025).
In an exclusive interview with ProSports, the 19-year-old shared his experience of playing without his brother, who previously played for Islamabad United alongside Naseem, and opened up about the difference in pressure this season.
When I played my first match with Islamabad, I always looked at two people—my captain and Naseem bhai. I watched for their signals
He explained that having his elder brother around brought a certain pressure, as he relied on Naseem’s guidance during matches. “There’s a pressure when your brother is with you,” he added.
Now with Multan Sultans, Ubaid Shah noted a shift. “Here, my brother isn’t with me, so the pressure is a bit less,” he said. He also praised the supportive environment at Multan, crediting franchise owner Ali Tareen and the team for maintaining a positive atmosphere, even after losing the first three matches in PSL 2025. They bounced back in style to defeat Lahore Qalandars in Multan in their fourth match.
