PSL 10 Standings as Karachi Secure Valuable Win Against Lahore

In a contest that lived up to its billing as one of the fiercest rivalries in the Pakistan Super League (PSL), Karachi Kings outgunned Lahore Qalandars in a pulsating encounter at Gaddafi Stadium to move up in the latest Season 10 standings.

Needing a win to keep Zalmi at bay, Karachi chased down 168 in a rain-hit contest to win the match by 4 wickets. This result has reshuffled the points table once again, pushing Karachi up the ladder and dealing a major blow to Lahore’s hopes of securing a top-two finish.

Irfan Khan Niazi’s explosive 48 off 21 balls* proved to be the knockout punch, as Karachi hunted down the target with three balls to spare, despite a few hiccups in the middle overs.

Put into bat under truncated 15-over conditions, Lahore looked set for a massive total after Fakhar Zaman (51 off 33) and Mohammad Naeem (65 off 29) tore into Karachi’s bowling with a 90-run opening stand. But a late-innings collapse, sparked by a four-wicket blitz from Abbas Afridi, saw them slip from 121/2 to 160/8 after the rain delay.

Karachi, in response, kept the scoring rate up from ball one. Tim Seifert (24 off 10) and David Warner (24 off 13) gave them a fiery start before the innings began to wobble slightly. But Irfan Khan’s fearless hitting and a composed cameo from Mohammad Nabi (15 off 8) kept them ahead of the DLS-adjusted target.

Irfan sealed the deal in style, taking his side closer to qualification for the PSL playoffs in the process.

Latest PSL 10 Standings:

Position Team Matches (M) Won (W) Lost (L) N/R Points (PT) NRR
1 Quetta Gladiators 8 5 2 1 11 0.906
2 Islamabad United 8 5 3 0 10 0.650
3 Karachi Kings 8 5 3 0 10 0.479
4 Lahore Qalandars 9 4 4 1 9 0.912
5 Peshawar Zalmi 7 3 4 0 6 -0.507
6 Multan Sultans 8 1 7 0 2 -2.597

This victory puts Karachi Kings neck and neck with Islamabad United in terms of points, though Islamabad retains the edge on net run rate. For Lahore, it’s a sobering loss, and they will now become Zalmi’s target for that final playoff spot.

With five teams still mathematically in contention, and just a handful of league games left, PSL 10 is setting up for a wild finish—and tonight’s result could prove decisive in determining which side gets the easier road through the knockouts.

The road to the PSL 10 playoffs will become a little clearer tonight as Peshawar Zalmi face Multan Sultans, looking to move closer to Lahore’s spot.
