Sindhi Cap and Ajrak Banned in Official Ceremonies

The Sindh Education Department has issued a strict ban on the presentation of Ajrak, Sindhi topi, and any form of gift at official government ceremonies, according to a notification released on Tuesday.

The directive, which was dispatched from Karachi, also prohibits the practice of students welcoming guests during public functions and ceremonies.

According to the official notification, all officers and staff have been instructed to ensure strict compliance with these new rules. The department emphasized that the move is aimed at bringing greater uniformity to public sector events and eliminating unnecessary formalities that have become customary at such gatherings.

The notification has been sent to all relevant authorities, including heads of government schools and educational institutions, reiterating that these practices should be discontinued immediately across all government platforms. The department clarified that the ban applies to all official events, whether held at schools, colleges, or other government venues.

Officials stated that the decision was made to streamline official functions and focus on the core purpose of such events, rather than on ceremonial traditions. The Sindh Education Department has warned that any violation of the directive will be taken seriously and could result in disciplinary action.

The move has sparked debate among some members of the public, with supporters praising the effort to modernize official protocols, while others express concern over the loss of cultural traditions in government settings.
