Pakistan could witness one of the biggest nights in its sporting history, as legendary boxer Mike Tyson is expected to attend the WBA bantamweight gold title clash between Mohammad Waseem and Thailand’s Jakrawut Majungoen on November 29 in Lahore.
According to Nukta, negotiations are underway to bring the former heavyweight world champion to Pakistan for the blockbuster event. If sponsorships fall into place, Mike Tyson will be ringside to watch Pakistan’s Mohammad Waseem defend his recently won world title.
Tyson, regarded as one of the greatest boxers of all time, held the WBA, WBC, and IBF heavyweight belts during his glittering career. His presence in Pakistan would not only elevate the profile of the bout but also mark a landmark moment for the country’s boxing scene. “Iron Mike” is also set to step into the ring once more next year.
Adding to the star power, former four-division world champion Roy Jones Jr. is also expected to be in attendance. Jones is considered one of the sport’s greats, with a decorated career that includes 66 wins from 76 bouts.
Quetta-born Mohammad Waseem, who claimed the WBA bantamweight gold by defeating Venezuela’s Ernesto Ireneo in Quetta earlier this year, now faces his first title defense against Thailand’s seasoned Jakrawut Majungoen.
The 30-year-old Majungoen brings vast experience to the ring, with 59 professional fights and 29 knockouts to his name. Waseem, meanwhile, boasts a 16-fight record with 14 wins (10 by knockout) and only two defeats.
With Tyson and Jones expected in attendance, Waseem’s title defense could become the most high-profile professional boxing event ever staged in Pakistan. For fans, it promises not just an electrifying contest in the ring but also a rare chance to witness some of the sport’s biggest names on Pakistani soil.
