Pakistani Engineers to Get House-Job Training Like Doctors

The Pakistan Engineering Council (PEC) signed Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) with 14 leading organizations under its flagship Graduate Engineer Trainee (GET) Placement Program. Chairman PEC Engr. Waseem Nazir, along with representatives of these organizations, signed the MoUs at a ceremony held in Islamabad.

The collaboration aims to provide young engineers with structured, hands-on professional training opportunities in the public and private sectors, bridging the gap between academic learning and practical experience.

The organizations that joined hands with PEC under this initiative include Frontier Works Organization (FWO), Pakistan Telecommunication Company Limited (PTCL), Tunneling Institute of Pakistan (TIP), National Institute of Electronics (NIE), National Electronics Complex of Pakistan (NECOP), National Telecommunication Corporation (NTC), Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA), Pakistan Mineral Development Corporation (PMDC), Heavy Industries Taxila (HIT), Heavy Mechanical Complex (HMC), Pakistan Ordnance Factories (POF), Islamabad Electric Supply Company (IESCO), PAKSAT International, and Pakistan Housing Authority Foundation (PHAF).

While addressing the ceremony, Chairman PEC Engr. Waseem Nazir said that the Graduate Engineer Trainee (GET) Program is a structured initiative designed to provide practical exposure and real-world experience to fresh engineering graduates. He added that the program will enable young engineers to enhance their professional competence, contribute effectively to national development, and gain the skills needed to meet the evolving demands of the industry.

Chairman PEC further stated that similar MoUs have already been signed with nation-building organizations in other parts of the country, reflecting PEC’s commitment to expanding this initiative nationwide.

Representatives from the partner organizations appreciated PEC’s efforts for launching such a visionary initiative that aligns academic learning with professional application. They acknowledged that this collaboration would not only help develop skilled engineers but also strengthen institutional capacity and foster innovation within their respective sectors.

The Graduate Engineer Trainee (GET) Placement Program offers a six-month structured training period, including five months of hands-on field experience and one month of soft skills development.

Through this “House Job” style training, PEC aims to enhance employability, professional competence, and industry readiness of young engineers across Pakistan — paving the way for a stronger, more technically capable engineering workforce for the country’s future.


  • Such a great intiative by PEC for the Fresh Engineering Graduates who are tense for their future job placement. This program will help to increase practical knowledge of the graduates. We all are happy and appreciate it .

  • This is an excellent step. Now the graduates will not be stuck in the chicken egg problem of job & experience.
    Even more companies should be made part of this to extend duration and allow variety of skills with 2-3 month rotation. Companies can be given incentive that companies training graduates will get tax relief or other inventive.

    Definitely fresh graduates full be fully exploited with overwork in this time but that’s not at all bad, it will only allow then grab more and more experience in this short duration.

  • In my suggestion all the teaching staff inclusive professor, Associate & lecturers must have industrial training of 15 days / yearly in the different kind of industries so that to update there knowledge and expertise about industrial operation. Today teaching staff knowledge is just theoretical which do not much helpful actually. Therefore refresher causes for all engineering stall is extremely necessary. The other big advantage of this will be industry and engineering universities bonding relationship develops.

  • Good news for fresh engineers…..The initiative will help engineers to get hands on experience and show their practical knowledge where thay have to face many problems at their first job that they have no experience.In this way Engineers will not be exploited by industrial sectors and this will support to upgrade industrial sector through out the country.On the whole, it is a better move to enhance engineers in the world.
